Television has become the basic necessary of every home in today’s world. We notice a great revolution in television technology. Starting from the black and white now people are talking about high definition plasma television and etc. whenever you are planning to go for buying a plasma or LCD television there are numerous things that you as a buyer should be aware off. First of all we need to understand both of the TVs, plasma and LCD and difference between them.

First of all we will discuss the plasma TV. Plasma is more preferable over LCD because it has got better color contrast according to my personal experiences. If you look for the plasma TV brands, my suggestions will be Sony ,Panasonic and LG. Because, these brands have, more than 100,000 hours half life expectancy. This basically shows that after 100,000 hours of viewing plasma will be half bright as it was on the manufacturing date. On the other side, LCD TV has about 50,000 hour’s half life expectancy.

One more advantage of plasma over is the greater pixilation and higher frame rate then the LCD TV. In LCD usually there are two types of models with 120 Hz and 60 Hz. 120 Hz supports up to 120 frames per seconds and 60 Hz. LCD model shows up to 60 frames per seconds. On the other hand in Panasonic, Sony plasmas you can watch more than 470 frames per seconds. There will be no chance of blurry picture if you watching Plasma while on LCD TV you will experience blurry picture some times when the camera across the screen. To get more sharp, fast and crisp image you will have to go for plasma.

There are some advantages of LCD TV as well over Plasma. For example, reduced glare in LCD while in plasma there is very high Glare that sometimes cause little difficulty in viewing. Especially if the plasma TV is in the front of light or some window then you might see high reflection and this will be very distracting.

LCD saves energy with respect to Plasma. LCD produces less heat with respect to the Plasma .one thing I would like to mention is that energy cost difference is of only few dollars between LCD and Plasma. But, this could be an important criterion for some buyers.

Another issue is of burn –in. it is experienced that LCD suffers less burn –in in comparison with plasma. Burn-in happens usually if somebody watches a single TV channel for days at a time. In other case kids playing a specific game for days, this thing usually happened more rapidly in restaurants, bars, public places, where a single channel run all the day. Though LCD does get burn-in but plasma gets it more rapidly. However, there is pixel shift option in plasma which can eliminate burn –in issue.

At the end I personally would prefer to buy plasma over LCD. But if somebody is conscious of glare or burn –in issue he/she may opt for LCD. Let me tell you some technical points which should be considered when you are going to buy LCD.  You can go for Sony, Panasonic and LG LCD. But please make sure that it has at least 1080p high definition resolution, 30,000:1 contrast ration, or higher than that. And there should be more than 2 ten watts speakers to create surrounding sounds. In case if you are planning to use you LCD as a monitor you should opt for the model which has at least 2 HDMI ports to connect pc.
